It's only been about a year since I've been using coconut oil in baking and still wonder where my head was at years ago for not using it sooner. Kelapo extra virgin coconut oil is 100% organic, certified Fair Trade, and approved by The Vegetarian Society. Between the health benefits, flavor and miscellaneous uses of coconut oil, Kelapo is one of the better oils on the market in my opinion.
First thing I used/tried Kelapo coconut oil was for cooking. I decided to give the old fashioned fried chicken a try. Not only was the fried chicken healthy, the taste was out of this world!!
Then decided to try some scrambled eggs cooked in the oil. Just a teaspoon of oil did the trick and there wasn't really a "hard" coconut taste to the eggs. I was very happy with this result!
Once my cooking experiments were done, I tried the oil for various other reasons. One of my cat's has an ongoing eye infection, and I spoke to his vet about the coconut oil once before and he said it was a great idea to use. All I had to do was dabbed a small bit of the oil onto his tear duct to help clear it. Louie actually love the taste of the oil, it's sweet, and it seems to be helping with the infection.
I've also used the oil to rub on my elbows that are constantly chaffed, and what a difference it made. After a few days of using the oil, my elbows were nice and smooth...almost back to normal. Even if I missed a few days of using the oil, my elbows stay nice.
There are many different ways to use coconut oil, but my favorite is still to use it for cooking.
